Item Setup — Walmart

Overview

Walmart item setup is handled through Item 360 (within Retail Link). Suppliers are typically provided an Excel item-setup template that must be completed and returned to the Walmart merchandising team for bulk upload.

1. Create the Item in SupplierOne

Walmart item setup starts in the SupplierOne Setup Hub.

1. Go to the SupplierOne Setup Hub: https://supplierone.wal-mart.com/item-mgr/setup-hub
2. Click Add an item.
3. Fill out the form — the values depend on whether the item is an Oahu or Neighbor Island item.

General Information

The shipping method and contract number differ depending on whether the item ships to Oahu or a Neighbor Island. Everything else is the same.

Select Product Type

1. Click Continue.
2. On the Select Product Type page, search gummy in the search bar and select Gummy Candy.
3. In the Sellable GTIN field, enter all GTINs of the sell-unit items being added.
4. Click Submit. The item template will then download.

2. Fill Out the Item Template

The downloaded Excel workbook has two tabs that must be filled out:

1. Product Content And Site Exp — what shows on the Walmart website + PO basics
2. Trade Item Configurations — supply-chain / packaging hierarchy + shelf data

Fill the flavor-specific fields fresh for every SKU; copy the line-wide fields unchanged across the whole gummy pouch line. All values below are the worked example for NOMS Honeydew Melon (an LH/LP gummy pouch, 2.3 oz).

Tab 1 — Product Content And Site Exp

The tab is split into three priority bands:

1. Required for Walmart to place a purchase order — fill all info (product name, price, net wt).
2. Required for the item to be visible on the Walmart website — website descriptions, images (upload to Shopify, paste the links), pieces per unit, other flavor-specific info.
3. Recommended to improve search & browse — Ingredients Statement, Net Content Statement, Product Line, Tasting Notes, Theme.

Tab 2 — Trade Item Configurations

Supply-chain and packaging data (Each / Case / Pallet hierarchy), shelf descriptions, and warehouse codes.

Photos: Requires 1 main photo + 4 additional photos (entered as the Main Image URL + Additional Image URLs on Tab 1).

Store Label Description — format

Short name that prints on store shelf labels (Tab 2). Must be compressed to fit physical label space.

Rationale for StrGuava: "Strawberry Guava" is 16 characters; with the HI Noms prefix it would exceed the 20-character max. "StrGuava" preserves the first three letters of both flavor words and reads naturally as a compressed store label.

Neighbor Island (DSD) — Key Differences

For the same item, a Neighbor Island setup uses a different template than Oahu. The Product Content And Site Exp tab is identical — only the Trade Item Configurations tab changes.

Because Neighbor Island ships Direct Store Delivery (DSD) — straight to the store, bypassing the Hawaii warehouse — all warehouse/DC fields are left blank.

3. Upload to SupplierOne

1. Click the Upload button in the top-right corner of the SupplierOne website.
2. Upload the completed Excel file.
3. SupplierOne reviews it for any missing info.
4. If all good, click Continue and name the task — e.g. Honeydew pouch Oahu setup.
5. Click Submit to submit the upload.
6. Track status under Items and Inventory → Submissions Manager.
